Warning this Gonna be Heavy

Here is your warning this gonna be heavy.

I recently had the opportunity to fill back packs with essential items such as shampoo, lotion, socks, band aids and etc.  So you’re probably thinking, okay so?

The backpacks that a group of us filled, they provide hope and promise to women and children who are survivors of human trafficking.

Each backpack offers a survivor a new start; a new hope!

Unsure about human trafficking? It is a serious crime and a violation of human rights.  Human trafficking is recruiting, transporting, transferring and harboring of people, by using force, threats, persuasion,  abuse of power and exploitation.  The exploitation can consist of forcing labors, slavery and prostitution.

For information and statistics of human trafficking go here http://trackingresourcecenter.org

Did you know that the biggest human trafficking takes place around the United States borders particularly in California harbors, (the highest in the nation!) Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego!

Did you know that the biggest fuel for human trafficking is the internet? The rapid growth of human trafficking is easier than ever due mainly in part to the internet because of the ease of anonymity, this in turn makes the trade of humans particularly women and children effortless.

There are several organizations that support and offer hope to the survivors of human trafficking.  The one that I recently had the opportunity to participate in was www.thesweetspot.org.

A large group of Lemondroppers  affiliated through Young Living Essential oils gathered together in Denver, Colorado to fill 249 back packs for the survivors who have escaped the trafficking and are now making a new start!

249 backpacks filled!

When the victims escape, they escape with nothing but the clothes on their backs, they have nothing!  This is where the www.thesweetspot.org comes in offering the surviving victim a back pack with everyday essentials.  This helps the survivor make a fresh new start and offers hope and promise.  Usually these survivors have never experienced anything new in their life to call their own, imagine the joy that is felt when unzipping their very own back pack!

Each bag = a new start, a new hope!

You can help but how?

Donate-  donate a monetary amount on the www.thesweetspot.org.

Or why not have a friends night and stuff the backpacks while enjoying each other’s company?  All of these items can be found at the dollar store!  Check out www.thesweetspot.org to find out ways to donate and what goes into the backpack.

The holiday season is coming up, lets look for ways to make a difference in other people lives!

Any great organizations that you support? Please post in the comments- I want to know!

Thank you for subscribing to my blog and if you have a backpack stuffing party please comment!
